The English Committee in aid of the
Waldensian Church Missions

850 years ago the followers of Waldo, a rich merchant who embraced poverty and began preaching the Gospel in ordinary language, were declared heretics and have since suffered a long history of persecution. It is thus truly historic that in June Pope Francis visited a Waldensian church in Turin and asked for forgiveness.

Erica Scroppo, Newbury the Executive Secretary of the Waldensian Church Mission, will introduce the speakers:
• David Cornick (General Secretary of Churches Together in England)
• Ken Howcroft (2014-15 President of the Methodist Conference)
• Mark Langham (RC Chaplain to Cambridge University)
• Rowan Williams (Master of Magdalene College)
Ian Nimmo-Smith, Chairman of the WCM, will conclude.
12.30-1pm
A presentation by historians Simone Maghenzani and Richard Newbury of the much awaited 2nd edition of The Waldensian Story by Prescot Stephens.
1-1.30pm
Lunch: some delicious food and drinks will be available from our stalls or bring your own.
